HEMINGWAY’S LONDON PIONEERS A NEW WAVE IN CANINE AVANT-GARDE
1st November, 2016: Hemingway’s London introduces a brand new label for our four-legged companions, changing the face of canine apparel and elevating choice for discerning dog lovers. The brainchild of London designer, Emma Cox, offers a debut collection of exquisitely crafted coats, combining modern, structured design and sophisticated tailoring in sumptuous leathers and natural fibres.
Cox, who worked under Alexander McQueen, prior to the launch of her own international womenswear label, Emma Griffiths London in 2010, is set to pioneer a new wave in canine avant-garde. Inspired by Cox’s own four-legged companion, ‘Hemingway’, a very dapper Havanese, together with a passion for her dog to reflect her love of a bold aesthetic, the new label realises a canine extension of the Emma Griffiths London signature style.
Reflecting Cox’s iconic collections, these exclusive coats will feature sharp, architecturally inspired silhouettes, detailed leatherwork and studding. Encapsulating the designer’s womenswear journey, reference points are collected from contemporary culture, notions of movement and surrealist artists - juxtaposing a modern sensibility with classic craftsmanship. Celebrating the best of British, each piece is handcrafted in the London studio using the finest leathers from British tanneries and heritage woolens from the world-renowned Hainsworth mill.
The inaugural collection will showcase a series of seven unique designs in a colour palette of black, grey, navy and neutrals, sized extra small to large. The coats, starting from £175, are crafted with the highest quality leathers including; butter-soft nappa, calfskin, calf suede, and hair on hide leathers, together with 100% cotton fibres and luxurious woolens. All pieces are based on the brand’s ‘London’ shape with a signature tail vent cut out. The coats Velcro-fasten at both the neck and undercarriage to ensure an adaptable fit and feature a clasp gap, cleverly hidden in the collar seam.
Emma Cox, Founder of Hemingway’s London, comments: “As a nation of dog lovers, our furry companions are our world but the dog apparel market, in terms of considered design, is limited. I wanted to offer style conscious dog owners an aesthetic choice for their faithful friends. We invest a considerable amount of thought and time in our style, from clothes to living and workspaces. Why should our pets be any different? I’m excited to be launching this first collection, offering a bold creative edge to the canine apparel industry whilst, most importantly retaining quality and craftsmanship!”
